Hello, Jordan here from Tetra4D. Tetra4D is an Adobe certified partner and we are providing the 3D PDF conversion technology to Acrobat Pro with our Tetra4D Converter plugin. Please be sure to read Dave's response at the top of this thread. There is a good chance the 3D PDF you have was created using a tool that will not include the geometric representation of the model, only the tessellation. 3D PDFs must have been converted as B-Rep solid in order for this STEP/IGES export to read back into a CAD application. Hello, Jordan here from Tetra4D, an Adobe certified partner for converting CAD data to 3D PDF. You can disable the measuring tool when converting CAD data to a 3D PDF in the settings tab using our Tetra4D Converter or Tetra4D Enrich plugin to Acrobat Pro. You can also adjust these Inside Acrobat. Navigate to File>Properties>Security method=>change to Password Security>check the permissions box>Select "Changes Allowed"=>none>enter a password>Save. Now when this document is opened without the password, tools like measurement, commenting, sectioning, etc. are disabled in Acrobat Reader/Pro. Hi David, Tetra4D Converter is a plugin to Acrobat XI, DC, and 2017 Professional that will allow you to convert CAD to 3D PDF, and back to STEP or other neutral formats. One important note: many other 3D PDF conversion tools only translate the tessellation or faceted data, where our tools also allow for B-Rep, exact geometry. I mention this because if the 3D PDF file you have was not converted using our tools or some other software allowing for B-Rep, this will not work. Hi Mark, Check out www.tetra4d.com. They have a cheap tool called Converter and you can use that to export the 3D data stored in the PDF. They have free trials available as well. Keep it mind it is important to know who created that PDF, and how it was created. Often times 3D PDFs are created in a way that does not have geometry included, and exporting to a neutral format if it was created just a tessellation of the model may not give you the expected results. Thanks for the quick reply Paul. The software I am trying to create a simulation for is actually a plugin to Adobe Acrobat Pro, so ideally I would like to be able to lay replicate what Adobe did in the product itself to show users where and how to access the tools, directly inside Acrobat. I have already created a simulation similar to the video you shared, which is great for users that have not installed. I would like this to be something interactive inside the application for "real" trials. If you have any more information how this was achieved, please share. I am thinking Javascript was used....

there is an interactive tour provided in the welcome menu of Acrobat 2017. Does anyone know if Adobe Captivate was used to create this? How can I create my own interactive tour inside of Acrobat to show users how to use our plugins to Acrobat? I do not want this to be a video. I want users to actually click on buttons and engage, not simply select a button to advance the next clip/scene. Thanks, Jordan

The version of Acrobat Pro you are using to convert your data to 3D PDF is quite old. Tetra4D is the exclusive provider for Adobe for the native 3D PDF technology. You can run a quick trial with our Converter plugin and see if you have the same results. You need a copy of Acrobat XI/DC Pro to run the plugin. A trial for Acrobat Pro is also provided. Hi Alex, Jordan here from Tech Soft 3D. Yes. You can change the 3D comment color quite easily. Adobe treats 3D comments the same way as 3D measurements, and this is where you can change the comment, or measuring color. Please go to Edit>Preferences>Measuring 3D. From there you have the ability to change the 3D measuring line color as needed. I have provided a screenshot below. Be sure that you have all the part files in the same folder as the main assembly you are trying to translate. If there are still some parts missing, you can check the log file under the main menu inside Adobe Acrobat under Tetra4D Converter after the conversion. This will give you a full report of missing files or parts that did not render. There will be a new version of Tetra4D products coming soon that will support Inventor 2017 version.
