Thank you, this is great news! Please Adobe focus on bugs and performance instead of features. Most of us use AIR for games with Starling, so while things like AGAL 3 and fancy texture improvements are nice to hear about 95% of the people will never use it. But 95% of the people will be banging their heads because of bugs that increase dev time significantly (I personally spent like 1 week+ on trying to circumvent and fix AIR bugs during the last 6 months). The current pain points (besides this bug): - Still unable to compile when ANEs include .plist files. - Bug#4052562 - Cannot write files on iOS device - We had to write an ANE for this - Bug#3961778 - ATF artifacts (not usual compression related artifacts) on some android devices - The most popular high end devices from Samsung and Sony are affected. We get bad reviews users complaning that our game looks bad. Nothing we can do - Bug#3364803 - [Platform_Android]Samsung Galaxy S III relaunches to a black screen after receiving a missed call Again nothing we can do. 1 star reviews because with users complaining that our game is buggy.

IntelliJ ultimate is the best AS3 IDE currently. But for building project I recommend to have a proper tool that can make reproducable build via command line. Either write Ant scripts or use GradleFx for this.

Thanks for the info! Anything we can do in our side to circumvent this? Like removing all info.plist files from the ANEs? Also do you have any ETA for this partial fix? (we could live with the fact that we cant submit a build created on Windows) A rough time (days? weeks? months?) would be fine too.

Yes, Im sure. Maybe its only happening if you use ANEs (or certain ANEs)? We've found that usgin ANEs that include the Google services SDK tend to break AIR. Sadly this is not a part of our game that we can omit, since we're using it to persist player's progress across devices. Also we are a small shop and can not afford the time and costs to buy a few Macs, move all our build pipeline and config to them. This would take for us weeks and we can not afford the lots productivity and expeneses

> You just need Mac machine for packaging the final ipa. This is NOT true. You can not create any kind of binary that works in Windows. It returns the very descriptive ApplicationVerifiedError when you try to install it. Adobe the only thing you are doing currently is angering your customers, this will not end well. Look at MS they still havent recovered from the IE6 backslash. Do not waste your time introducing new features that are used by 0.1% of your customers (just look at the Flash changelogs - I havent used a feature introduced in the last six versions). BUT I have torn my hair out several times because my iOS app wont compile on Windows, apps with ANEs wont compile all the time, AIR cannot debug, videos crash on Android, I can't submit to Apple, AIR gives me useless "ApplicationVerifiedError" messages that take hours to debug, the [Inline] optimization corrupts code, AIR on Android throws random errors when using textures, AIR on iOS randomly refuses to write on the disk, SharedObjects randomly wont work on iOS, on IOS my app asks randomly whether to use push notifications,.... all AIR bugs. Do you really want this kind of social media attention?

Or just switch to Unity. They support windows, keep up with the latest tech and hire actual developers to do coding who never make such bug in the first place.

So currently we cannot use AIR 20, because it generates corrupt packages. We cannot use AIR 19 because of a linker issue with ANEs that fails even to compile our app. AIR 18 works but due to a bug you cant connect to the debugger on the device. Great work, cant wait for AIR 21! Perhaps this time you manage to break the AS3 compiler too!

I am trying to integrate the MixPanel SDK as a native extension to our project. I can compile the .ANE fine, but when I try to package my application I get the following error: Undefined symbols for architecture armv7: utf8_nextCharSafeBody, referenced from:_validate_dispatch_data_partial_string from libPods-MixPanel.a(MPVWebSocket.o) the library is open source, heres this file: mixpanel-iphone/MPWebSocket.m at master · mixpanel/mixpanel-iphone · GitHub The definition of this function comes from this import: #import <unicode/utf8.h> which comes from usr/incude -> unicode -> utf8.h according to XCode. How can I include this file? Do I need to include it at all? The problem with requestSoftKeyboard(); is, that it only works on Android... What i did was the following: i overlay an invisible Textfield over the button - this will cause the click event to register (and the keyboard goes down), but the layout does not register this change, thus youll left with an empty space where the keyboard was..

Hello I have a mobile AIR app with a simple layout: <s:View ...> <s:layout><s:VerticalLayout /></s:layout> <s:TextArea width="100%" height="100%" /> <HGroup width="100%" > <s:Button label="button" /> <s:Button label="button" /> <s:Button label="button" /> </HGroup> </s:View> The application is set to resize when the soft keyboard opens by setting resizeForSoftKeyboard="true" in the main app. The textArea uses the default Flex 4.6 skin. My problem is, that if the user opens the keyboard by typing text into my texArea, he will be unable to click the buttons below the TextArea, because as soon as he tries to click a button the soft keyboard lowers (because the focus it out of the TextArea) and immediately opens again (because the mouseDown position is now above the TextArea). I think this is the order of events: 1. textArea loses focus 2. keyboard goes goes down, keyboardDeactivate event dispatched. 3. mouseDown registers on the (expanded) textArea, so keyboard comes back up. How can i prevent the soft keyboard from closing, so the user is able to click the buttons between the TextArea and the keyboard? Note: SkinnablePopupContainer uses some hack to solve this, i just cant figure out how.. Thanks

Hi Im trying to open a menu at the current position of the cursor. i can get the cursor position in characters, but i need the (x,y) coordinates for the blinking cursor. (the (x,y) coordinates of the character before the cursor would be fine too) Anyone knows how to get it? Thanks for help

I am having exact the same problem too.(Im using flash builder 4 beta 2.) But why do i need to add a text to the stage before i can apply link formatting to it? This doesn't sound logical, is there some other solution? Or is there some other way to add a link to a text it in flex?
