Nope - sorry.  I have the latest update installed, and it still opens maximized.  I did change the registry setting and open it, and that worked...HOWEVER, reader resets that value to 1 every time it closes.  So it works exactly once for me, unless I make it a policy or a script on opening Reader. ...
