Thank you for your replies! I am having trouble getting to the user's computer because they are out of office so often. As soon as I get my hands on the computer, I will check to see if IE is invoking Adobe for PDF or some other viewer.

I receive PDF files in my Gmail account, which I access using Internet Explorer. I open the PDF in the browser and press the Download button. As expected, the Save window opens and I save it to my computer. The problem is that the Print windows opens automatically after the save. Since I don't need to print, I close the window. It is not a critical problem but it is annoying. How can I prevent the Print window from opening automatically after I download/save a file from my browser? Thank you in advance!

Thank you everyone for your reply! I definitely want to avoid using 3rd party tools so Dov's recommendation is heading in the right direction. I agree that anyone can forge a PDF so I will limit my expectations to just making it difficult. Specifically, I want to provide them with a document that they must OCR, if they want to manipulate it. I have tried saving with a password but I can still open/edit/save the PDF on other computers without ever being prompted for the password. The only time it prompts for a password is when I try to change security settings, which isn't necessary for editing. What's the trick to making the password prevent editing?

We have both Acrobat X and DC at our office. Our billing system creates editable PDF files. We don't want to send editable PDF files to our customers. The current solution is print the PDF, scan it on our copier to a PDF file, and then email it to the customer. It would be so much easier and save tons of paper if Acrobat could convert an editable PDF to a PDF than can't be edited. I have read many posts in this forum and other places on the Internet but no one has a solution. Please let me know if this can be done and how. Thank you in advance!
