Hello All, We are working on upgrading Dreamweaver core infrastructure to make use of the latest APIs & features introduced in latest MacOS & Windows versions. This is to ensure Dreamweaver continues to remain compatible with latest MacOS & Windows versions and also to make use of the new improvements available for applications. One of the Dreamweaver functionality which heavily depends on the older OS APIs is Image Optimization in Dreamweaver. However on looking into the feature usage data, in-app image editing workflows usage in Dreamweaver has been quite low for the past few years. Number of users who had used the below listed workflows for more than once has been further low. So after evaluating the effort involved in migrating these workflows to latest OS versions and the current low usage trend, we are deprecating Image Optimization workflows from our next release. Impacted workflows • PSD documents will not be supported in Insert Image workflow, instead you can externally generate an image in supported format like JPG, PNG and then insert into a document in Dreamweaver. • Open original PSD file in Photoshop for an image used in web document • Update/reset size of an image from original PSD file • Crop/Resample an image • Modify Brightness/Contrast/Sharpness of an image • Edit image settings like format, quality, color palette, transparency, etc through Image Optimization window. • Resample an image with different height & width and/or file format while downloading/inserting assets from CC Libraries panel Please note, this will not impact the ability to select an image in Dreamweaver and jump to Photoshop or any external application for image editing from Properties Inspector as configured by you in Preferences for various file types. This will also not impact in using assets from CC Libraries in their original file format & dimension. Regards, Yalpi Shiva Prasad

Currently these feature flags can be enabled/disabled by editing the json file. We have a ER logged to add these preferences to UI, so users can directly customize these preferences within DW app. We will update once this is available. Can you please let us know if you are now able to disable code hints. Or the issue still exists.

When content is served from a testing server, any changes made in Live/Design Views or code view needs to be saved and pushed to testing server as changed file is again loaded from testing server in RTP. So whenever changes are saved in Dreamweaver, RTP automatically refreshes and renders the new changes. When RTP is opened for a local static file or the site does not have a testing server defined, changes are automatically reflected in RTP. In this case RTP is loaded from local copy of the file directly. higgsyd wrote If I then double-click an element in my Live view page to bring up the edit box I should be able to change some text and see it reflected in the RTP. I only see the change reflected in the Chrome window if i both save my change and do a Reload of the page in the Chrome window

To disable auto completion of quotes and brackets in Dreamweaver please follow below steps: Quit Dreamweaver Open following file in a text editor: Win: %appdata%\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC 2018\en_US\Configuration\Brackets\brackets.json Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CC 2018/en_US/Configuration/Brackets/brackets.json Set below 2 flags in the file to false which are set to true by default. "autoCloseQuotes": false, "autoCloseBraces": false, Save and close the file Launch Dreamweaver. Auto completion of quotes and brackets will be now disabled.

"autoCloseQuotes": false, "autoCloseBraces": false, Save and close the file Launch Dreamweaver. Autocompletion of quotes and brackets will be now disabled. Also when you opened the brackets.json, can you please let us know if showCodeHints flag is set to true or false. This flag will be set to false when you deselect and click on Apply button in Preferences window thereby disabling code hints in code view: "Edit Menu > Preferences > Code Hints > Enable Code Hints".

Hello MilkDigital, Can you please check if current logged in user account has write access to "~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CC 2017/en_US/Configuration/Menus" folder by right clicking on the folder and selecting Get Info in the context menu. If the permissions are missing, you can add read&write permissions to the Menus folder as well as the root folder "Dreamweaver CC 2017" and try launching Dreamweaver again. While adding the permissions, please do Apply to enclosed Items in Get Info window so that the permissions are added to all sub folders and files. Regards

Hello k1n6, Can you please help us with the below information. It will help us in further investigating the issue. 1. OS version of your system. 2. Is the local site folder in site setup window pointing to a remote location or to a mapped network drive. 3. Is the local site associated with a Git repository. 4. Does the issue persist if you select a different site in Files panel and relaunch DW. Regards

Hello Jon, img-alt-require rule is from previous version of HTML Linter in Dreamweaver which is not applicable with the current version within Dreamweaver CC 2017. I have logged a bug to replace img-alt-require with alt-require in HTML.htmlhintrc. You can enable the warnings for missing alt attribute in img tags by adding below rule in HTML.htmlhintrc: "alt-require": true Regards

Hi, From the video capture looks like Live is enabled for a PHP file and Live view is available only if a testing server is defined or if local source is previewed in Live view. Can you please let us know if a testing server is defined current active site in Site Setup window.

Hello Rob, When Dreamweaver CC 2017 is launched for the first time, it makes a copy of brackets.json in the user configuration folder in appdata. On future launches, this file inside user configuration folder overrides the files inside installed folder, since the customization done by the user takes precedence. Since you had modified the file inside app installed folder, the change is not reflecting. Kindly follow the below steps: 1. Quit Dreamweaver if it is running 2. Open the file from following path in any text editor: %appdata%\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC 2017\en_US\Configuration\Brackets\brackets.json 3. Add "closeBrackets": false in the file and save it 4. Launch DW If the file is still missing in the above path, kindly share a screenshot of the following path in explorer: %appdata%\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC 2017\en_US\Configuration\ Regards

Hi, brackets.json is located in user config folder within user home directory: ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CC 2017/en_US/Configuration/Brackets/brackets.json or /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CC 2017/en_US/Configuration/Brackets/brackets.json You can add the flag "closeBrackets": false in the bottom and save the file. On next launch onwards, brackets are not auto closed on typing { or [ or ( and also quotes are not auto paired on typing ' or ". Regards

Hello, There is no preference in UI to disable highlighting matching strings. However you can turn it off by setting it false in brackets.json. Following are the steps: 1. Quit Dreamweaver 2. Open brackets.json in a text editor available in below path Win: %appdata%\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC 2017\en_US\Configuration\Brackets Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CC 2017/en_US/Configuration/Brackets 3. Set "highlightMatches": false and save the file 4. Launch Dreamweaver The feature should be turned off now.

Hello Mike, I have logged a bug for issue #2. For #3 can you please let me know if you are getting green validation arrow even after saving the file with missing </a>. Also can you please let me know if this is an HTML or a PHP file. Linting is currently available only for HTML files. Regards

Hello Mike, #1: On typing <a href=" I am able to get the hint for Browsing and selecting a file in the site for both HTML and PHP files. Can you let us know the file type you are working on. #2: Can you please share a sample snippet where you are getting the issue. #3: Earlier Linting was triggered on every key press in code view. In CC 2017, linting is triggered only on save or file open. Can you please share a snippet of the code for which you are not seeing linter errors. You can also configure the error messages in Preferences->Linting for CSS, HTML and JS files. Regards

Hello Richard, <source> is a void element so it does not need a closing tag. Hence Dreamweaver does not close the tag on typing </ after a <source> tag. https://www.w3.org/TR/html5/syntax.html#void-elements

Hello, The “Server Busy” error message is popped by Windows OS. This message appears whenever there is a resource conflict between two processes in Windows and one of the processes will not release the required resource so that it can be used by another process(in this case Dreamweaver). It is possible that Windows thinks there is a network service conflict of some kind or disk/file conflict; however, adware / spyware can also cause this problem to occur. It could be popped up in multiple scenarios, it may be due to some applications which run in the background and on startup (eg java, CuteFTP etc ). There is no defined solution to this Windows error but you can try the below: - Close any other apps before launching Dreamweaver - Check if Windows update is installing updates and launch Dreamweaver once the updates are installed - Using msconfig to remove some apps from startup - Finding what apps are using what port using TCPView - DiskMon to check what disk activity is being done with which application The error message is not specific to Dreamweaver. Meanwhile can you please try the following and let me know if it works. 1. Log into system 2. Open Finder 3. Press Cmd+Shift+G 4. Enter /Users/<Your Account Name>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/ in the dialog that appears and press Enter key 5. Rename "Dreamweaver CC" folder name to "Dreamweaver CC Backup" 6. Press Cmd+Shift+G 7. Enter /Users/<Your Account Name>/Library/Preferences in the dialog that appears and press Enter key 8. Rename file "Adobe Dreamweaver CC Prefs" to "Adobe Dreamweaver CC Prefs Backup" 9. Hello Gary, The issue discussed in this thread is where users are unable to launch Dreamweaver due to missing Java Runtime. The issue you are referring to seems to the Crash on Launch discussed in the below thread. On Mavericks, Dreamweaver CS5(newer versions work fine) is crashing on opening Browser Lab panel. So if the Dreamweaver Workspace a Browser Panel and not minimized, on every launch Dreamweaver CS5 would try to load Browser lab and hence crash. http://forums.adobe.com/message/5799374 So when you removed the User Preferences folder, the workspace got cleared and hence you are able to launch now.
