Acrobat Reader DC not working

After a few minutes of reading and highlighting the PDF completely freezes. I am not able to press anything so I end up having to restart my computer.

It usually stops highlighting before the screen turns black and then freezes like the picture below. Occasionally the computer restarts on its own or I am able to press the start button so that I can restart the computer but this is very rare.

    Try to follow below mention steps:

    1- Check for Updates- launch Reader>click Help>select Check for Updates.

    2- If that doesn't work, try repairing Reader by clicking on Repair Installation under Help menu.

    Could you please confirm the version of Acrobat Reader DC installed on the machine?

    To check the version, click About Adobe Acrobat Reader DC under Help menu
