Acrobat Reader gets the error

Hello! The problem is that: I downloaded a PDF document, when read with Acrobat Reader gets the error: "an error Occurred while opening this document. An error occurred while reading the document (14)". What it is and how it can be cured, the file is quite important. Thanks in advance)

Hi Lawrencem,

As per the description above, you are not able to open/read a PDF file on Adobe Reader, Is that correct?

Please try the troubleshooting steps from the following KB docs: See how to troubleshoot problems opening PDF files and other PDF related issues  Link: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/troubleshoot-problems-opening-pdfs.html

If the issue still persists, please try the following steps:

  • Navigate to Edit>Preferences in Adobe Reader.
  • Select Security(Enhanced).
  • Uncheck the "Enable Protected Mode at startup box" *** Note: Disabling the Protected mode is only for testing purpose for the PDF you are not able to open, please enable it back.
  • Click Ok and check with the PDF file.

You may also check for any pending update of Adobe Reader from Help>Check for updates.

Are you facing this issue with one PDF file or with all the PDF files?
