Acrobat Reader on Mac in Chrome will not open

My Acrobat Reader just started requiring me to sign in to Adobe before it will open a file. After I sign in, the document hangs and will not open. I have seen references to using the Cleaner tool but only for Windows. not Mac. My OS is El Capitan.

Not exactly sure. I review articles from Business Week. I select an article, convert it to Print, choose the pages I want, export it as a pdf, and click on the saved pdf on my desktop. When I click on that file, I’m asked to sign in to Adobe, which I do. After I sign in, the doc just hangs with the colored wheel spinning.

For viewing a local PDF file you don't need sign in to Adobe.

Do you use Acrobat Reader or Adobe Acrobat?

Are you opening the file in Reader or in Chrome?
