Question

Acrobat Reader repeatedly crashes, even with re-installs

I am on a brand new iMac with the latest OS and the problem is still the same that I had with the 2010 iMac that I just replaced. Acrobat Reader has not worked consistently since I started this project in November 2018.

I am using Acrobat Reader's PDF document editing features. The features work fine for a day or two, and then suddenly the program will crash. If I Force Quit and restart the program, it no longer works, so I have to uninstall it and download a new copy. The new copy will work well for a day or two before crashing and the cycle repeats. This is an extremely slow way to get work done, but I don't know what else to do.

1. Can anyone recommend a similar PDF editing program that works consistently?

2. I don't know if anyone can help with this issue, but I think it is important that the developers know that there apparently is a bug in the program...at least on the two iMacs I have used with it.

thanks, TT

    A little more information...

I don't know what volume of edits Acrobat Reader is designed to handle. The documents I am editing are about 20 pages. Each file is about 1-2 mb in size. The edits are moderate in volume I would say, but some of the edits are "Add Note to Replace Text", and there are a dozen or so per file, and I paste about 500 words inside each of them.

Is that too much for Acrobat Reader? Should I be using Pro?

no, 1-2 mb is none to nothing. But you are sure, you are using the Reader... Because Reader means Reader and not Editor or Writer?

    Thanks for the reply.

It is Acrobat Reader DC. Is has great editing tools. Or should I say...they are editing markup tools. You can't actually make changes, you can only flag changes...which is perfect for what I want to do, because I then give the marked-up files to my designer who makes the changes and reformats and reflows the design.
