Hi:

When prompted to upgrade my Adobe Reader I get "Adobe Reader modified since original installation update--reinstall Adobe Reader OR #Error 1411--Adobe Reader cannot be updated at this time.  I tried to reinstall Adobe Flash player Installer last April thought it took and my Applications shows Adobe Reader modifications activity on March 23, 2017 maybe this is from when I tried to update, but every time I get an update notice, I get these messages.  I am able to open a pdf. Should I just ignore these messages? My nontechie nature wants to.  Thanks for any insight.

    Hi,

First, thanks for helping. I appreciate it.  So, I have 2 Adobe Reader Icons on my sidebar and I opened them both and one says 10.1.6 and the other says 11.0.19.( just thought to check the second one today-not the brightest techie on the block) I'm wondering if somewhere along the line I tried to upgrade but downloaded a later version and I should have uninstalled the older version. ??

I will have to go and see online how to uninstall. I'm wondering if I can just move the icon into the trash? Once I figure this out, I will do it and use your link.  I suppose I should uninstall both versions, right?  Too bad you're not using a mac. Haha.

Oh, I was a Mac user for many years. Just not recently (occupation change). You should be able to move the icon and the program file into the trash to uninstall. I know that there are third party uninstallers for Mac applications as well but can't recommend any (I think I used to use one called Appcleaner). I would remove both and start over again to see if things clear up.

When are you getting this prompt? Is it when you are trying to view a pdf online? If so, it may not be because you need an update. It could be that the browser is using it's own pdf viewer.

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer. Actually, these update notices pop up randomly. Sometimes I'm online and other times I may be in doc.  Recently, I've received notices to update to the latest AR something D, so I go through the steps and then I get that first message I cited. I'm on a Mac OSX 10.11 so it can't be my system is old.  However, as to your thought, I will try and pay attention and see if that Update notice pops up when I'm online and viewing a pdf.  Thanks!

While you are at it, open Adobe Reader and go to Help>About Adobe Reader. What version does it say you have?
