I have been using AOL for a long time. I have Adobe Reader. Previously whe I received a .pdf file as an attachment in AOL, I would click on it and Adobe Reader would automatically open it for me. This does not happen anymore.

    Hi Aksarben,

Apologies for the trouble caused and the delay in response, as described above you are getting the error: "Failing to connect to a DDE Server" correct?

We need some more information for a better understanding:

    • What is the version of the application? To check the version of the application you may refer to - Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC
    • What is the OS and version?
    • Are you on a home network or on a work domain?
    • Is it with a particular file or with any file that you try to open?
    • If it is with a particular file, could you please share the file with us through private message for testing? To know more about how to send a private message you refer to the link - How Do I Send  Private Message | Adobe Community
    • Are you able to open the PDF file stored locally on your computer?

In the meantime, you may try the following troubleshooting steps:

You may also refer to the help article in the link - Fatal error - Acrobat failed to connect to a DDE server

Let us know if you need more help.

    Regards,

    Amal
