Adobe Reader - Problem with opening PDFs from new server mapped drive

So we have recently migrated our client's server to a newer machine. All network functionality is good; shares, permissions, mapped drives, etc...

The domain users cannot open PDF files with Adobe Reader from the mapped network drive. They get the following error...

"There was an error opening this document. The specified network name is no longer available."

I find this interesting because I can open the file just fine using Microsoft Edge PDF viewer. All other data files are opening fine as well; such as word or excel files - so I know this is an issue with Adobe.

Has anyone seen this before? I need to get this resolved ASAP.

Ok so I found the resolution.

Open Adobe Reader > Edit > Preferences > Security Enhanced > uncheck 'Enable Protected Mode at Startup'.

Click OK and restart Adobe Reader.

This has resolved this problem.
