Adobe Reader re-install problems

Hi All

Automatic updates installed Adobe Acrobat Pro DC without my knowledge/permission, during the
trial last year, & in doing so removed Acrobat Reader X1.

Pro DC didn’t suit my simple computer set-up so I removed it.

Now, when trying to view or open pdf files from
anyone/anywhere, including my flight itinerary document, they automatically open
in MS Word with all the text as scrambled gibberish.

I can’t download & re-install the free adobe reader X1 because it requires a serial number – it was already
installed on my Dell computer when I originally purchased it so I have no download
files or serial number that would satisfy the free download serial number
requirement, also it looks as if this product is no longer available for
purchase from Adobe?

I have Windows 7 Pro 64bit with Internet Explorer browser.

Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks!

    Hi yvonneh39013673,

Acrobat Reader doesn't require a serial number. You can download and install Reader XI from the following link and see if that works for you: Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution

(select the Operating System, language, and version accordingly).

Let me know if there is any issue while following the steps.

    Thank You,

    Shivam
