Question

Amendable PDFs on Microsoft Surface Book

Firstly, can I just say that it was unbelievably frustrating trying to contact Adobe and ask a simple technical question. I wanted to ask which product was suitable for a particular application (see below). But not only did I have to create an Adobe account; I then had to specify which product I was using. Which was infuriatingly circular and, I would have thought, entirely foreseeable. I miss the days when you could just go to the 'Contact Us' page on a website and send a simple email.

Okay, so anyhow: I have just bought a Microsoft Surface Book 2. I want to use it to write on and amend PDFs using my Microsoft pen, then save the amended file. The guys at the store where I bought the Surface Book lied (here's looking at you, JB-HI FI!) and assured me that Adobe Reader would allow this. Stupidly, I took them at their word.

I'm happy to purchase whatever product is suitable for my application - it doesn't have to be free.

Can anybody suggest a good product?

Thanks and regards,

Rinsel.

    Hi Rinsel,

    Sorry for the trouble caused.

As you mentioned that you need to write and amend PDFs, you may check the Adobe Indesign application.

You will be able to write and amend the files there and can also save it to PDF.

However, it has limited use for Microsoft Pen. You will not be able to write and amend files using Microsoft Pen.

You may try the free trial of the application and check if that is what you are looking for.

You can download the trial version from here Free InDesign | Download Adobe InDesign CC full version

Also, refer this help document Create book files with Adobe InDesign and check if that can help.

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC just help you to view, print, sign and annotate PDF.

There is an Adobe Acrobat DC application, which helps you to create PDF from other format files like MS Word, etc.

It also provides the feature to edit that PDF.

You can refer this document Answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about Acrobat DC for further information. https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/faq.html

If you wish you can use the free trial Download Adobe Acrobat free trial | Acrobat Pro DC to check if that suits you.

    Hope the information helps.

Let us know if you have any question.
