Cannot search, highlight, or copy text with DC...

This program is not working at all for me. All I want to do is copy two paragraphs from a 30 page document. The document is NOT protected. I have also tried this on a few PDFs from different sources but none of them work.

First, I clicked on the search Icon and searched for a word I know is in the document, but I said there were no results. For fun I typed in the word “the,” but alas it could not find that either. Suffice to say, it cannot search the document. I scrolled through the document to find the word and hence, section I was looking for.

If I follow the video tutorial in a previous thread on a similar issue, after I choose, Edit and the Select Tool, the program starts “working” and freezes for a few minutes. I have a brand-new Dell Precision 5510, so it should not be due to lack of computer capacity.

After a few minutes, the bounding box shows and I can see the cursor icon but it does not work. It does not let me select text, but only shows me huge boxes which do not copy. (When I try to highlight text I have a similar problem. It creates giant yellow circles on the page…)

I also tried exporting the document to word, but it created a page with the title on the top but no body text. This happened on a previous document as well, so it is not just this document.

I need to be able to search documents and copy text for work, and I have followed the tutorials on this forum as well as on YouTube and nothing is working. Please help.
