Question

Changed User Group now can't print

We recently changed a user from a local admin to a power user on their machine and now we are having an issue with them being able to print PDFs.  We get "The document could not be printed" error.  When we change the user back to a local admin the error disappears.  I imagine this is related to some file permission issue but where should I start looking?  We have already tried an uninstall/reinstall and deleting app data before restoring their admin and neither resolved the issue.  I also tried the print as image trick and the same error appeared.  Other programs are able to print and we can print PDFs with other programs as well.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello Rbmit,

Sorry for the delayed response and inconvenience caused. As per the description above, a user is not able to print PDF files from Adobe Reader after the User Group was changed, Is that correct?

Make sure that you have the latest version of Adobe Reader and the printer driver/firmware installed. To download the updates of Reader, you may check for updates from help>check for updates.

You may also refer and try the suggestions from the Adobe article Troubleshoot PDF printing in Acrobat and Reader

I have also shared some more steps via private message, please check your email inbox.

What is the version of OS installed? What is the make and model of the printer and the driver installed?

What is the dot version of the Adobe Reader installed? To identify, refer to Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

let us know how it goes and share your findings.

    Regards,

    Anand Sri.
