Error: "There was an error reading the stream"

I have Adobe Acrobat DC, it was just updated from the regular Adobe Acrobat Reader and ever since it updated to DC I get the error message "There was an error while reading the stream." I've checked for updates and done the repair installation but I still get the error and am unable to view my documents.

    Please refer the troubleshooting steps provided in these two threads with the similar issue:

    Error: "There was an error while reading this Stream" - how can i fix this?

    Check if this helps in resolving the issue.

    How do I "update the firmware on the scanner" or "update scanner drivers"? Also, they're not on a shared network, they're just my own documents that I either scanned in or saved from a Microsoft Word document. Thank you.
