Question

Export highlights into PDF/Word

Hello, I know this question has been asked before in several forums but they seem to be out-dated and I can't find a solution. What I am basically trying to do is to export all the highlighted parts of PDF documents using the free version of Reader ("Adobe Acrobat Reader DC"). Under Preferences > Commenting, I don't have the option to do this as has been previously explained. Any help and tips are highly appreciated!

Thanks, try67, I was hoping I'd find a free version. As a student, I'm rather on a budget and would appreciate any other advice you may have!

Maria,

Did you try the trial version to see if it does what you want it to do?

I think the only other solutions are to either learn scripting yourself or to put in a feature request to the Acrobat team and hope in comes out in a future version.

Otherwise, if it were me, I would find a way to purchase try67's script.

That's problematic to do in Reader because it doesn't have the option to automatically copy the highlighted text into the comment.

I've developed a script that allows you to do it, though, and then you can use the Summarize Comments command in the Print dialog to create a summary of them. You can find this tool here: Custom-made Adobe Scripts: Acrobat -- Retroactively Copy Highlighted Text into Comments
