exporting from DC ... loss of characters

When I export from DC to Word (or other programs), all words with repeated characters, such as "attributes" or "accomplishments," appear like this:

"at tributes", "ac omplishments," etc., missing the second character. This happens in all my programs, so it's not a problem at that end. It's something strange with DC. Happen to anyone else? It's (to say the least) a substantial burden trying to fill in the missing characters in a multi-page doc.
