Let me start by saying I use a 2010 Macbook pro with software up to date: Mac OS X 10.7.5 and Adobe Reader version up to date: Version 11.0.11 (or so they claim they are up to date). I am having trouble opening a zip file on my Adobe Reader.  The file was downloaded from teacherspayteachers.com. I have had no problem in the past opening zips. Can't get this one to work. I also have tried unzippy, and unzippy said it couldn't be installed on my computer either. Hoping my computer isn't permanently out of date! The error reads: Adobe Reader could not open because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded). Any help appreciated.

Neither Adobe Acrobat, nor the free Adobe Reader will open ZIP files. If you have a PDF file that is in a ZIP  file, you need to unzip the ZIP file first, and then you can in a second step open the file in Acrobat/Reader. On Mac OS X, all you need to do is to double-click on the ZIP file, and the operating system should extract the contents of the ZIP file into a new folder that gets created on the same level as where your ZIP file is.

By threat, your Mac OS is very, very old and out of date. Because of this you can't run the current Reader (version "DC"). Why haven't you upgraded? (There are some good reasons but I'm puzzled why you say it's up to date)

Notctgat it would fix this?
