how to configure launching options for Reader in Mac?

Hi, My Acrobat Reader launches when I boot up and makes my Mac Mojave very slow.

I want Acrobat Reader to launch when I click on the A icon or PDF file.

I have navigated all over and I cannot accomplish this simple task.

Please help!!!!
