How to parse this pdf?

How do you parse a pdf such as this (http://static.e-publishing.af.mil/production/1/af_a1/form/af910/af910.pdf ) one? If Acrobat Reader can render it properly, then my own pdf viewer should be able to too (instead of just displaying "Please wait...

If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the document, your PDF

viewer may not be able to display this type of document. /.../").

It appears the document was created using Adobe LiveCycle Designer.

As explained above, you may go through the help document PDF won’t display. Please wait …  where its explained in detail why does it happen with such files, specially when its created in Livecycle Designer.

    Interesting, thank you. The linked document says that a Dynamic XFA PDF/Form does "not specify any rendering". So, text fields etc. don't have a predetermined width? It's up to the reader to decide what layout the document will have and the sizes of the elements? It doesn't make sense to me, because when you create a text field you must know that the field is of a certain length such that the required input fits (if the input is limited by its width and not number of characters). Thus, the width must be predetermined to some part at least.

    Whatever the case is, I would really like an explanation of how the reader can for example determine the width of a certain text field?

    You simply need to parse the XFA and use it for all the rendering. None of the other content is relevant.
