Not use as standard program

I usually use another program to display pdf's so I can make notes with my pen. For some things, Adobe Reader is better, but when I use it the program will ask if I want to use it as my standard program. There is an option that you can click so it won't ask again, but even if I do, it will ask me again the next time I start it.

Is there a way to completely turn this off? Why would they even include this option if it will still ask if I want to use it as standard again anyways?
