PDF's converted to Excel are useless, please help

The files created after converting my pdf bank statement to an excel file is garbage. Is there a way to convert the pdf while retaining the information? My ultimate goal is to convert the bank statement to a .csv file to use in quickbooks. According to adobe I should be able to convert the file to excel and save it as a .csv file.
