I am trying to download it for school but I keep getting this message "Found a higher version Adobe Acrobat Reader in the installation location. Installation will terminate."Then it says contact software manufacture for assistance.  I have Mac 10.13.3 High Serria.

    Hello Lacreshaj,

Sorry for the delayed response and inconvenience caused. Thank you for sharing the workaround and nice job troubleshooting that.

As Aandi correctly mentioned to look for Adobe, or Acrobat, or Reader etc as locating and removing these folders is a process of manual removing of Adobe folders/files which can contain any corrupt or conflicting files and can cause an issue.

For future reference, you can use Acrobat cleaner tool to remove Adobe Reader and it's related installation files completely from the machine Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs Link: https://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html

Reboot the machine and install Reader from Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution

Feel free to update this discussion for any further assistance.

    Regards,

    Anand Sri.

Please look in your Applications folder (in Finder). What do you see there with names like Adobe, or Acrobat, or Reader etc.?
