Still having trouble with 20074 on Adobe reader DC

Hello,

We are still having issues after the automatic update to 20074 last week. A lot of our users are still unable fill out any fillable forms in I.E. Attempts to resolve have included complete cleanup tool uninstall, reinstall, then update to 20074. For some this fixes the printing issue, but not fillable forms for us.

    Hi Marcr,

Sorry to hear about the trouble and thanks for bringing this up. Since the latest update hasn't fixed the issue then we would suggest you to please check the following IE settings.

Open IE>Manage Add-Ons> Toolbar and Extensions check whether Add-On is enable or disable.

We also suggest you to use cleaner tool once and remove the application- Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

For testing, you may try to fill out the form on desktop app Adobe Reader DC once.  Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution  and see if that helps.

    Thanks,

    Akanchha

It is the desktop version we are having the issue with at our company. I tried the cleaner on both a Reader and install and an Acrobat Pro install, and it didn't fix the issue in either case. The users cannot type into the fields on fillable forms.

Additionally, the users are also unable to print some documents. The print dialog doesn't come up at all when the printer icon, or File->Print, is clicked. So, I cannot even get into the print settings to change other common settings such as "Print as image" which sometimes fixes printing issues. The security settings show that printing is allowed on these documents.

I'd even be happy if we could install the old version that didn't have these issue, but at least for the Pro version that doesn't seem to be an option since when I launched the old installer we had, it automatically retrieved the newest version anyway.

This is completely ridiculous and unacceptable. If we cannot get a resolution to this, I am going to suggest that my company move away from Adobe Acrobat Pro and find a different PDF editing solution, one that doesn't tend to break every time an update comes along.

UPDATE: Deleting the settings folder within the users' AppData folder fixed the printing issue, but the fillable form issue still remains.

Since running that cleaner tool and reinstalling on one of the users machines with the Pro install, now our problems have escalated.

Now when she opens PDF files and tries to click File->Save As, first the save dialogue pops up, but just shows a continuously spinning wheel. Then other times it simply just crashes and exits as soon as you click File.

The Windows Event Viewer logs shows an error saying "Faulting module name: ucrtbase.dll, version: 10.0.17134.319, time stamp: 0xc1f0557a". I've repaired and reinstalled several of the C++ things and so far it hasn't fixed the issue.

This just keeps getting worse. I am definitely checking into the pro versions of Nitro PDF and Foxit. If I don't get a solution to this that fixes it, we will have no other choice than to move forward with that plan.

We are having this exact same issue with fillable forms at my workplace. So far we have 4 users with the issue; 2 that are on the regular version, and 2 that are using the Pro version. All of them began having the problem after the big update that changed the icons and such about 2 weeks ago (was it 20071?) and continue to have the issue after updating to 20074. Some of them also had the printing issue at first, but it either went away on its own or was fixed by doing the repair install. I should note that when they fillable form issue first appeared, the forms did not even look like they were fillable. After running the repair install, the forms then looked like they should, but when you select a field you can not type anything into them, and cannot select radio buttons or check boxes. I also tried clicking the Fill Forms tool, and still nothing.
