Question

The infamous "The Adobe PDF browser plug-in is missing." message. I can't get rid of it.

I have read several threads pertaining to this same problem on the Adobe Support website.  I have tried using the Adobe Acrobat Reader Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs, restarting the computer, and installing Reader DC from Adobe-Adobe Reader DC Distribution and restarting again.  After I have done all of this and I am doing something innocuous like reading a Yahoo or MSN article, the message reappears and continues incessantly.  What am I doing wrong? I am using Internet Explorer for a browser and Windows 10 Home as my Operating System. My version of Adobe Reader DC is 2018.011.20036.  I have run a virus and malware scan from Spybot S&D and a Defender scan.  Neither yield any issues and do not eliminate this message.  Help!

    Hi Bobneeds65

Thanks for sharing the troubleshooting steps that you have followed.

Would you please confirm from how long you have been started getting this error message? As it seems you are running the most latest version of Reader DC.

Have you checked with any other web browser? If not then you may checked with any other browser, and see if the same thing happens.

Would be looking forward for an update from you.

    Regards,

It has been going on for many months.  Easily a year now.  I will try to switch to another web browser and see what happens.  I will let you know the outcome. I did notice that my Defender anti-virus and anti-malware scan picked up the same Trojan on three different but recent dates. The Trojan had something to do with a fake Adobe Flash Player message. Trojan:JS/Flafisi.D.  The Trojans were quarantined and removed.  As of a few minutes ago, my issues with the "Adobe PDF browser plug-in is missing." message continues while I read an MSN or Yahoo news article. Aggravating since it prevents me from finishing the particular news article.
