Why does Adobe Acroat Reader DC enable me to do almost everything in the universe to a .pdf file except what I want to do, i.e. save the .pdf to my laptop!!  I'm finding it very frustrating.

Thank you for your prompt reply. When I open up a .pdf e.g. from a government website, it goes directly to Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, which is frustrating because it does not allow me to save it as a .pdf.. I do not have Adobe Acrobat DC (as far as I know).

On investigation, I can find no evidence that I have actually bought Acrobat Reader DC, and it is not clear to me why this program opens. My only explanation is that the basic Adobe PDF Services webpage keeps encouraging me to try Acrobat Reader DC, but I do not need it. I still have access to Adobe PDF Services, and this does all I need.

I have tried to do a screen shot as you suggest, but if there is a .pdf on the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC screen, right click on the screen does not bring up the menu which includes Take a Screenshot. All very confusing - and frustrating.

I hope that this clarifies the matter, and that you are able to help me to download .pdf files in a way which allows me to save them. Please reply to my @bigpond.com address – I do not use @outlook.com

You never mentioned that you had bought Acrobat DC. In fact you said specifically that you are using Acrobat Reader DC. So we can give you good advice we need to know which of these two apps you are actually using. And, you say there is no Save As option. What do you see, in full, in the File menu? A screen shot showing the File menu without the Save as option might be needed.

You don't right click to take a screen shot. But if taking a screen shot is too much, please tell us exactly what you see in Reader. Especially

1. What does it say along the title bar along the top?

2. What menus appear immediately under the title bar?

Hey there,

We regret for the inconvenience caused. Are you struggling to save a PDF in Adobe Reader desktop application? What happen when you are trying to save it?

If you are someone who is getting Save As option instead of Save. Then you must keep these things in mind:

1- This is Reader's design behavior

2- If you are working on a file which isn't saved/ downloaded in your system then do that that first. Once you make change,

file will ask to Save As. Now open the saved file, and consecutive changes will be saved with Ctrl+s

If you are experiencing any other issue, please let us know.

Thanks,

Akanchha

Akanchha - I interpolate my comments on your response below, underlined:

We regret for the inconvenience caused. Are you struggling to save a PDF in Adobe Reader desktop application? What happen when you are trying to save it?  My original question explains exactly: the Save option is grayed out, and does not operate.  I should add that no Save As option is visible.

If you are someone who is getting Save As option instead of Save. Then you must keep these things in mind:

1- This is Reader's design behavior  Then this behaviour is inappropriate, and needs correction.

2- If you are working on a file which isn't saved/ downloaded in your system then do that that first. Once you make change,

file will ask to Save As. Now open the saved file, and consecutive changes will be saved with Ctrl+s  The whole point is that I can't save it or download it as a .pdf; I can only download and save once I have converted to a .docx file - which is not the object of the exercise, i.e. to save the .pdf file on my laptop. Neither of the Save/Download options appears along the top of the screen, or in the pane on the right.

I am totally unimpressed with Adobe Acrobat DC, which I was misled into buying.  In  particular, the immediate receipt of five silly email messages, none of which answered my question posed above (first post, new badge etc.) made me wonder whether I am dealing with adults.  Your reply arrived a week after I posed my question.  What sort of customer service is this?
