Why Does Acrobat Reader DC Crawl at Startup?

Are there some settings I can change, like disabling all or most plugins on Acrobat Reader DC?  All I need is a reader, not all the other stuff that Reader has turned into.  It used to be a nice lightweight program, now it takes as long as Photoshop to load, on my computer anyway.
