Photo deviation. What mistakes were made?

I assume this was rejected for Technical Issues. The red blotches on the right side are either from a flawed editing process or very uneven lighting. Overall the image seems to be a bit underexposed, and not in completely sharp focus, perhaps because of depth of field being too shallow.
