After Effects error at start up

The dialog box pops up after I launch After Effects and pick the project I want to work on.  I believe it is specific to some projects.  The message is:

``After Effects error: internal verification failure, sorry! {no current context}``

I click "Ok" and the dialog box disappears and everything seems normal.  I've seen other posts about this but they predate the version I have.  macOS 11.4, After Effects 18.2.1

The meaning is still the same, regardless of what version. If it only occurs with specific projects start by considering what they actualyl contain - a certain effect, stuff like Rotobrush, masks on certain types of footage, combinations of layer switches and so on. If it's siumple stuff, consider stripping down the project and rebuilding it/ re-applying effects and so on. Otherwise the old trick of importing projects into empty projects to enforce a structural refresh may also help. That and of course these days also try and flush your caches and rebuild them.

Thank you.

In my searches I never found the advice and suggestions you provided but they make good sense.  I've just been ignoring the problem.  It appears to be benign but then again, I do have to restart AE if I use it for more than a few hours.  The answers I found in my search was just to update.
