After Effects - Rotobrush "Micro-Freezing"?

A few days ago, I wanted to do masking with the rotobrush for a project, I went on After Effects and used the rotobrush, but I wasn't able to deal with a problem that kept occurring.

As I was trying to use the rotobrush, I noticed that the highlighting I tried to do just kept freezing for like a couple seconds, and when it stopped freezing, it either helped a bit or made it a bit worse.

IDK what to call this problem, maybe it's "Micro-Freezing", or something similar in a way. To me, it got so annoying to a point where I just closed out the project myself out of frustration. I don't think I have autosaves on, but I only tried doing like 1-5 frames before giving up, so it wasn't a total loss.

I just want to find some type of solution to it, the laptop I have is a gaming laptop with 8GB of RAM.
