Hi!

After latest update of AE we get "After Effects Warning: Unknown Exception" every time we do changes in the original AI file.

1. We make a change in one of the layers in Illustrator.

2. We save the change in Illustrator.

3. We switch to AE and the ongoing project.

4. We preview the animation in AE.

5. Immediately the warning appears: "After Effects Warning: Unknown Exception"

Sometimes one of the layers appears broken, whith a mosaic of rainbow-colours instead of the actual layer.

Please help us solv this problem, deadline is getting closer as we speak!

Best regards,

Hanna

Hi Hanna,

Thanks for the detailed post. Please try the following and see if brings any change:

  1. Start with the basic maintenance, Reset the preferences, and clear media cache.
  2. Does it happen with all the Ai. files or a particular one? If it's a particular file, copy the content of the and paste it in a new blank project and replace it in the After Effects project.
  3. Go to After Effects Preferences > Display > uncheck "Hardware Accelerated Composition, Layer, and Footage Panels".

Let us know, we're here to help.

Thanks,

Nishu
