After FX crashes when trying to export with media encoder

Hi,

All of a sudden I'm getting an error message when I try to export using media encoder.

(AfterFX.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close...)

I'm using AE 22.2.1 and each app is up to date, as are my NVIDIA drivers.

The only thing that changed (apart from updating Adobe apps!) is that I installed Element 3D (and Elementary).

Thank you for any help!

My system is:

Windows 10

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz 3.40 GHz

32 GB Ram

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (Driver 511.65)

Hi, Thanks for the reply.

In fact, I did reinstalled both Ae and AME.

I could export image sequence directly from Ae but whenever I tried to export mp4 through AME,

'afterfx.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close' this error pops up.

Any idea how this could be solved? ..

I fixed the issue. I've deleted AE Juice Plugin manager and now it's working.

I was not even using the plugin but, i guess it caused some problems some how.

I'm having exactly same problem right now.

There's no plug in used in the project file and this is happening... so frustrating.

There was an issue earlier this year. Make sure you are on the last version of Ae and AME.

Please remove all plug-ins form your system and test, if all is well then add each plug-in, one buy one to see what is causing the issue.

Thanks for the reply. It makes me think that it's a project-specific issue. Could you test after removing the plug-ins from the project? Also, would you mind letting us know the plug-ins that you installed recently?

You can copy and paste the crash report into a text file and attach the text file here.

Let us know.

Thanks,

Nishu

Hi,

Thank again for the reply.
I've attached a crash report (as a txt file) here but I also opened a different test project which is 10s long with vitually nothing in it and Media Encoder has frozen half way through an H.264 export (hasn't aactually crashed After FX...yet.)
I installed Element 3D and a plugin caled Elementary.

Thank you!

Hi Shiba-Inu,

Sorry for the crash. Please share the following details:

  • Does it generate any crash report? If so, please share it.
  • Are you using third-party plug-ins in your project? What happens if you remove them? Does it help?
  • Is it happening to all the projects or a particular one?

Let us know, we're here to help.

Thanks,

Nishu

Hi

Thanks for the reply. I can't seem to attach a crash report here?

I have a lot of plugins but the Comp is only 30s long without anything complex going on. (No 3D, no lights, etc).
I've tested it using 2 (similar) projects but I know that one of them exported fine before the updates.

Thanks again.
