Question

All my Animated Presets Gone!

Hello everyone,

I'm not sure if this is something that occured when I updated to the latest edition of After Effects, but all of my preloaded Animation Presets under the "Animation" menu are gone!   I didn't do anything to my Adobe files, except to download the latest version.

I went to try and find them in any User Preset folders on my computer, and there is nothing there.

Can anyone help me figure out how to get these Animation Presets back?

Thank you so much!

-Erin

Navigate to C:\Users\[your_name]\Documents\Adobe\After Effects CC 2021\User Presets on Windows or Documents\Adobe\After Effects CC 2021\User Presets on Mac. In hear you should find your old presets, just copy those to the CC 2022 folder (in the same location as the CC 2021 folder) and paste them in there.

Thanks Jake!

I was able to find the Presets in the pathway ---> Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CC\Support Files.  It seems as though the older versions and the new version all had broken shortcuts leading to that path/file.  I tried to create new shortcuts, but probably linked to the wrong thing.  I might have to go in another level to "Presets".  I was, however, able to find the files and access them on AE.  Hopefully this will work for the time being.

Thanks again - I'll update here if I am able to fix the original shortcut

We all know the fun of the day after an AE update.  I've taken to having all my plugins and presets in a separate folder.  Then just work through them sequentially to reinstall.  The year before doing this for the first time it took about 90 minutes to get AE back to normal (and I don't have many plugins).  This last year took 30 minutes because I didn't have to go looking for the files, installers, licences etc...
