Question

Any scripts or way to select objects below a selected object or path?

Hello again! I always forget to use this amazing community to see if anyone has scripts or ideas for this other problem I find myself in. So I'm currently working on a design for a business and have been painstakingly putting in a good few hours a day just lasso tooling different designs for our company. I would LOVE to have something that would take an object selected above and select all objects below it in other layers. I can get it if this isn't doable, but I feel like it might be hidden away with commands. I included pictures for examples of what I mean by selected objects. The V is why I'm trying use to select all circles below it. I just need it to select all of the ones touching the path so I can clean it up! Thanks so much!

I'm not sure what the cropped and uploaded rather than shared by dragging to the reply field on the forum screenshots are telling us.

When projects get complex, and there are a lot of layers and nested layers (pre-comps), the Flowchart is the best tool for finding assets.

That's one for a typical complex project for me. I can click on any layer I want, and it will open that comp in the timeline and select that layer.

If you are talking about selecting and creating masks for everything in the comp below a specific layer or organizing layers by groups, then look into the Label Groups and Lable Colors options you get when right-clicking on a layer color.

Give us a detailed explanation of what you are trying to do and embed a screenshot of the whole UI, and maybe we can help you figure out a way to save some time.

Ah, excuse me, as I said my morning coffee didn't really kick in till late. I am trying to make ishihara pattern designs for my company and I was getting frustrated with selecting the individual letters/designs with the lasso tool. What I was mainly asking was if there was a way to use the object (in this case the V on the layer above the circles) to select all the circles that it touches below it. It would be way more efficient as I am going to be making a lot of different varieties of these. But then I can worry about grouping those circles, coloring them, resizing, and finish the product! I included some better screenshots, Though they really don't illustrate what I'm asking, just my drafts haha. Sorry for any confusion. I will say thank you a bunch for the flowchart though! I barely have ever seen it brought up and will be using it for anything that gets into some crazy-level stuff. In the case of the screenshot, The B is showing what I was originally doing, outlining the letters while they're locked to get a selection. Then going in and unselecting circles that didn't fit under the B. This way I can go ahead and group them like in the pink circle and get them grouped for coloring. Basically is there a way to only select what's under the B on that circle? The vape and skate is an example of how much ill be doing this so in the long rung it'd save me prob a good few hours. Thanks a bunch!
