Question

automatically add metadata when render from AE

Hi, initially I would like to add the project name and the path to the metadata of the render file (MOV Prores and MP4). It is supposed that After Effects do that, but when I look the rendered file in bridge I can't find that info anywhere.

Additional to this I would like to add custom metadata too. Is there a script for these two things, or can I create one?

Any guidance will help

It's not possible, if you want the short version.

Long and short: It's simply broken on so many levels. This is in part to blame to Adobe not fixing some things, in part to how AE works, in part to the constant changes in some file formats. It's basically the triangle of death and it never works. That and of course you can mostly forget about custom metadata. AE never supported it nor did many file formats to begin with. So at best you can add custom info as sidecar XML in Bridge or inject your video files with the info where possible, but have to take care to actually always include this data when sharing files afterwards. Otherwise this is really a case why media servers with centralized databases such as Avid's or Blackmagic's are are even a thing. You just can't rely on metadata for video, at least not in the way you seem to have in mind.

I'm not sure if you are giving me a solution or not. Basically I want to add this info, specially the project name and path for backup purposes, so the idea is that when I get back to that render I can get the original project that create it to edit it if is that the case.
