Question

Behavior RAM Cache AE 18 - AE 22. Too High RAM Usage.

Good day. I have strange behavior in After Effects 22.

Example: When I import a file in the old AE 18, the green bar of RAM Cache stays still and I apply an effect, e.g. warp stabilizer. Performance OK, RAM usage 8 GB. No crashes.

If I do the same in AE 22, the green bar starts growing after a few seconds and RAM cache loads. Within a few seconds, the RAM cache occupies over 50GB of memory. The application of effects is slowed down or crashes completely.

Are there other options in AE 22 to configure the RAM cache or why does AE crash? It cannot be that an 800MB video occupies 64GB of RAM and causes AE to crash. Working with more than one file is not possible. Windows 11, I9 12900K, 64GB RAM, GTX 1080.

A new update was just released AE 22.1.1 try to upgrade and check if that can help fix this issue.

I did. Same issue. Also NVIDIA studio driver.

But I guess it could be a NVIDIA issue. Studio driver just eats even more RAM than gaming driver.

I had another machine a month ago, I could swear, it worked with NVIDIA and AE 22. But should I try all older drivers bit by bit?
