Change layer to Screen?

In some cases, even if I toggle switches, I dont get the option to change the layer setting to Screen, how do I fix this?

That's not ideal.

Could you try resetting the preferences of After Effects and see if it helps: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-after-effects/td-p/10634342
