Cleaning cache media database freezes program at 75% on Mac

Attempting to clean and purge but cleaning cache media database results in program freezing at 75% every time I attempt it. Have tried resettting, reinstalling, etc. with same result.

Have you tried to simply clean it out externally by going into the folder? The worst that should happen is AE taking forever to open a project because it needs to rebuild the media cache.
