Erasing in After Effects

Sorry if this is a silly question, but how can I erase an object in AE like in the video below? At the 1:26 mark where the blade is arching the brows. With each stroke, some of the brow is erased. I know how to make an object (razor) move to where it looks like its shaving hair but I don't know how to erase the hair without drawing multiple brows, each with less hair and using keyframes. I hope yall understand the question.

If you have an independent layer for the item you want to remove, probably the easiest way is to create and animate masks in substract mode. Of course you can use the eraser tool but it will create a stroke every time you erase on your layer. If you don't have full control over the way the eraser works, masks will do the job.
