How do I retain layer arrangement/position when dragging into timeline (AE)?

Hi everyone,I'm trying to drag some layers that I have already imported from Illustrator into the AE timeline. I chose "retain layer sizes" but when I drag from the LAYERS FOLDER, they appear in the preview like this:Everything is center aligned rather than how it was arranged in Illustrator. Is there a way to change these settings or drag them into the timeline so that I can retain the arrangement?? Thanks! Tiffany

If you import the Illustrator as a Composition, there should be a Comp with the same name as the Illustator file that already has the Illustrator layers placed correctly in the Comp.

If you did not import the Illustrator file as a Composition, you can import the file again as a Composition. Open the presulting Comp and then copy and paste the layers to your current Comp.

Another option is to import the Illustrator file as Footage - Merged Layers, place it into a Comp, and then choose Layer > Create > Convert to Layered Comp.
