Importing Illustrator files

I am making a simple animation by importing all layers from illustrator.

I imported the file and highlighted composition. Yet the layers didn't keep their order, they are all centered. What did I do wrong?

      As soon as you import an Illustrator file, After Effects creates a Composition that needs to be open. It looks like you are creating a new composition and drop the illustrator layer files into your ne composition. This way, all the layers will be centered. If you want to maintain the original position in the AI file, open the composition that AE creates for you.
