Laggy Menu in After Effects

I recently upgraded to the latest After Effects and for some reason when trying to use the menu it lags out to the point where it becomes unbearable, but the keyboard shortcuts are not a problem. Working anywhere else in the app is okay to include the timeline, etc. It’s just the menu at the top.

I was only a couple of versions behind before upgrading and that version was working fine.
