overflow errors warning on a new untitled empty project? (Mac)

I'm getting overflow warnings 17::18 & 17::19 when opening a new project. I've quickly reviewed all

the reasons given in other posts, but nothing like this. Warnings won't quit after multiple clicks on "ok".

Unable to quit AE without a restart. It's a real pain!

Any ideas???

As @OussK already said, if it appears without even a project open then malformatted data is introduced somewhere. In addition to potential font issues this could also be an incompatible plug-in or script running amok. You could also have mistweaked your system's settings for UI scaling and such and produced incompatible settings e.g. with font scaling in menus. Check all those things.
