Pan Behind Tool (keyboard shortcut 'Y' key) Can't Move Anchor Point on a 3D Layer

I tried using the PAN BEHIND TOOL to grab the anchor point, but whenever I grabbed the anchor point the whole shape moved (the anchor point was blocked by value Z).

So for my purposes, I just create a new null object, position it where I want the new anchor point to be, and parent my 3D layer to it. But I think it is too complex.

Any better idea?
