Question

Paragraph Text nothing appears in composition window

Hi. I have a simple problem with paragraph text.

When I create a paragraph text box, with the T tool, and dragging in the composition window, nothing appears in the comp window apart from the rectangular lines around the box itself. However, the text layer in the timeline accepts text, so I know something is being input.

So, for the screen shot I've attached, I am typing the word RAMBO and this is only reflecting in the layer not in the comp window.

I have seen, on one forum, the fix for a similar problem is to right click on the character generator, and then hit RESET CHARACTER. Unfortunately this does not work in my case.

Solutions much appreciated.

Andrew

Thank You for these contributions ...

I tried changing the character values (fixes recommended by the other Andrew, and Motion Mammoth).

Unfortunately the problem hasn't been resolved.

Meng I double checked and I was not using white for the font - though I liked your idea.

I've included a better screengrab of my windows (sorry the last one cut off a crucial area).

The first screengrab shows the character values suggested by Andrew Yoole.

The second screengrab shows what the comp window looked like when I clicked away from the

paragraph text box and hit the selection tool. The box disappears and I get what looks

like an anchor point. When I inspected it more closely, it appeared that the text box had

collapsed into a barely visible dot underneath the anchor point.

If anyone can solve the mystery, I would much appreciate this.

Best Wishes

Andrew (Brown)

Hi Larsbrown,

Could there be a chance that your font color has been set to white?

From one Andrew to another 🙂

You've cropped out the most important part of your screen shot - the Character and Paragraph windows. This problem usually occurs when a parameter is messed up in one of these windows.

I can see barely that you have a left indent setting in the Paragraph window that starts with a 2.  In most situations that parameter would be 0.

Try setting all the numerical setings in your Character and Paragraph windows to the settings in my screengrab and see if it resolves the issue.

Hi.

You can check to see if your character size does not exceed the size of the box.
