Preview not working properly, always renders every frame despite no changes to content

Hi,

I'm working in AE 2021, Version 18.2.1 (Build 8).

I'm finding that my prieviews aren't working efficiently or correctly, as for previous versions. If I create a comp with numerous pre comps, and preview, It renders the preview as expected. If I then make a small adjustment to the contents of just one pre comp, AE always re renders every frame of the parent comp.

Any suggestions?

I have cleared my cache etc but it doesn't fix it

this should happen everytime if you make a local edit to a pre-comp and preview the global comp. try using region of intrest to preview a portion on the comp
