Roto Brush never gets anything done

I'm using Roto Brush 2.0. I have a clip a couple of seconds long. After I make my strokes with the Roto Brush and press the spacebar to render through the frames, it takes a while and then just keeps looping. It never gets anything done. Does anyone know why this could be or how to fix it?

UPDATE: I updated After Effects, completely reinstalled my AMD Radeon software and chipset drivers, freed a bunch of disk space, and now it works

No propagation, no preview. You need to go through your clip and add a few strokes to create more base frames and of course let the spans propagate. You may want to read the online help on this stuff.

I guess I'm confused. I thought I followed exactly what the guide says. I added a few strokes to the base frame and pressed space to let propagate. But, it has issues when going through the frames as I said. It doesn't go very far and then it loops and sometimes it skips frames
