Show individual frames on timeline

I like how, when I zoom in on my timeline, AE shows highlights the indidual frames (see below).

Is there a way to enable this without zooming in? It would make it much easier for me to time things properly

No, it's not and once zoomed out, this wouldn't be very helpful. The frames would be to small to see and tell apart.

However, if you want to time animations, you can use the timecode, or press Page Up and Page Down buttons to move framewise. With SHIFT + Page Up/Down, you'll move 10 frame in one go. I used to set a keypress command on my Wacom to move for 3 and 8 frames in addition & to avoid a pattern in my animation timing.

Another useful shortcut is to set a keyframe. I not quite sure anymore, but I think with CTRL+SHIFT+P, you could set a position keyframe, and accordingly, S (scale), T (opacity), R (rotation).
